Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a relatively new form of manual exfoliation meant to be performed primarily on the face and is performed by Dr Fam and involves the use of a sterile dermatome. This method removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells, leaving the skin smooth and supple.
Dermaplaning is usually performed only on the face. Furthermore, it is recommended that the procedure be done every 3 to 4 weeks. Along with sloughing away dead skin cells, dermaplaning, in combination with other skin procedures, can reduce acne scarring and wrinkles, as well as do away with extraneous vellous hairs on the face. Also, there is no need for women to fear that the vellous hair on their face will grow back thicker after it has been bladed because it will not, as vellous hairs grow back the same after they’ve been removed because the structure of the hair does not become damaged. Dr Fam often use dermaplaning in combination with chemical peels to enhance the effect and results of the procedure.
